Cinema is, of course, cinematic. It should go without saying, but such is the drama infused in each note of the track that it bears making clear. The atmosphere builds constantly through big beats, samples and experimental snatches of Lemonade’s vocal. It all adds up to a fresh and compelling tale.
“I created this track in my bedroom in 2021— just me, a beat, and a feeling,” says Lemonade. “I sat on it for almost five years before realizing it didn’t need to be changed. It was ready to speak for itself.
“This was my first time recording myself—there were so many trials, errors, and late nights filled with doubt. But every step taught me something.”
New Jersey, USA’s Lexi Lemonade has been bringing her unique brand of songwriting to our blog since 2021, and I always enjoy welcoming her back to these pages. Cinema is an instant fav.
The single, mixed and mastered by John Burke at vibe studios mixing, is out now, available to order on vinyl. You can listen to it below.
