Emerging from the early morning haze, Mourning Light is the latest single from alternative folk project Mt. Gribley.

The Milford, Connecticut, USA-based project is the work of singer-songwriter Matt Jarrett who pairs raw, authentic instrumentals with a smooth, expressive voice that feels like it’s speaking right to you.
Mourning Light is an image-laden track that paints a melancholic picture. Yet, there are highlights of hope. The tempo is upbeat, and we get a sense of an unfolding future in its ode to the new day.
“This song came quick and fast one early morning, and yes, I wrote it from bed, staring out the window,” says Jarrett. “It’s about getting up and doing what needs to be done, even when you feel like disappearing.”
The track is taken from Jarrett’s upcoming album Moss on the Stone which is set to be released via Resonating Wood Recordings. Described as a “breakup album without the breakup,” it’s set to be an emotional and unexpected journey.
Fans of Frightened Rabbit, The Tallest Man on Earth, and The Cave Singers need to check out what Mt. Gribley is doing. It’s eloquent, poignant alternative folk, delivered with polish and heart.
Mourning Light was produced and engineered by Eric Michael Lichter, mixed by Guido Falivene, and mastered by Steve Wytas. It’s out now, and you can listen to it below.
