Southend’s The Trusted have been firmly on our radar since 2022 and bring their unique Essex slant to indie pop.

We’ve had multiple singles and EPs pass through these pages. With each new release, I fall in love with them a little more. New single Levitate sees them taking things to a new level, floating assuredly over the UK pop rock landscape.
An ethereal electronica opens the track up before the groove settles in. A cinematic feel means its easy to get lost in, and the vocals, as always, ooze an irresistible charm.
“This is a tune about someone throwing your head into the clouds and hoping it never comes down,” explain the band, and it’s certainly one to give you a lift when reality gets too heavy.
I’m not the only one who loves The Trusted. They’ve performed for BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley, toured internationally, and played festivals like Latitude and Lazy Days. You need to believe the hype with this lot.
The future is bright for The Trusted and Levitate could well be the anthem that takes them there. Listen if you like The 1975 and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
