One of my most exciting discoveries of late has been Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas.
By Graeme Smith
The Cornwall-based outfit hit our radar in April 2025 through their debut single, That Was That, and frankly took my breath away. The combination of the track and video really left a mark.
We’ve waited six months for another chance to share their music and the wait has been worth it. Shy Girl is their second single and leans into the spirit of spooky season.
Opening with mysterious strings, the track moves effortlessly into a dark pop arrangement with plenty of depth. Crowe’s vocals haunt as they deliver their defiant message. Plucked guitar and harmonies give the track a hint of folk while layers of electronica makes the whole composition feel undefinable.
Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas have an average age of nineteen. They truly have the world at their feet. Their first two singles feel like a statement, giving us contrast, heart and polish.
Of the new single, Crowe says: “earlier this year I said that I was hopeful that our music, and the motivation behind what we do would connect way beyond our native Cornwall – that we wanted to invite everyone, wherever they are, to join our clan. Some of that is now beginning to happen – the support we are picking up is exciting, and I’m confident that Shy Girl will help us accelerate that journey.”
I wholeheartedly agree. The single is out now on Little Genius Recordings, and you can listen to it below.
