York-based country artist Ruby Wheeler captured my attention with her debut. Now, her second single shows us a different side to her sound.

“Not Your Girl shows a more serious and contemplative side to my songwriting,” explains Wheeler. “While Wyatt Wayne was rooted in fantasy, Not Your Girl is painfully real.”

The emotion of its story comes through strongly in both the track’s composition and its intimate video. Wheeler doesn’t hold back with her vocals and lyrics, striking a defiant figure in the chorus.

Ruby Wheeler is marking herself out as a local artist with a point of view. Her upcoming album is one to look out for. “You can expect more of both sides of the coin in the album that these singles are building towards,” she adds.
