New York, USA-based artist teenatown has been lighting up our pages with her distinct brand of chamber pop since 2023. Her latest single may be her most intimate yet.
By Graeme Smith
Her new single, the night, celebrates the moment she confessed her feelings to her girlfriend giving us a track that is gently heartbreaking. The vocals are beautifully crystalline as they deliver lyrics rich with relatability and wordplay, showing us that love is a truly universal feeling.
Teenatown is an artist who has always worn her sexuality as a badge of pride and has frequently railed against homophobia in previous work such as single false prophet and her wonderful debut EP where the butterflies are, both of which we’ve reviewed. The night takes things a step further, delving deep into her personal story to drown out the hate.
She’s come a long way from her musical origins, experimenting on GarageBand at the age of eighteen. One can only wait expectantly to see where her career will go next. One thing that’s for sure is we’ll remain devoted fans.
