It’s been a few years since we featured the Parisian jazz and funk act Who Parked The Car and they’re very welcome back with their latest single, Sugar Rush.

The track captures the band’s live performance, ramping it up to 152 bpm to maximise the funkiness.

Sugar Rush explores the idea of someone chasing quick highs. The band themselves describe it as like “eating a whole bag of candy, feeling like a superhero for five minutes, then vibrating out of your own body.”

The music beautifully captures this through its spritely composition. A vibrant opening settles quickly into a pacy groove that is guaranteed to get you moving. As the rhythm takes you, the vocals prove a soulful, soothing anchor. The beat simply never quits. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anything as addictive.

With members from France, Argentina, and Honduras, Who Parked The Car are truly a unique proposition. Their sound is wonderfully distinct while being grounded firmly in Latin and French jazz-funk traditions. They’re award-winning and are already touring international. As the French would say, they’re a tour de force.

If you want to keep up with what they’re doing, you can by following them on Facebook, Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, YouTube, Instagram, and Songkick.
