Discovery: Blake Madison’s Choral Background Lends Nicely To Dark Pop

Classically trained singer songwriter Blake Madison has applied her background to dark, cinematic pop in her new single, Wait My Dear.

By Graeme Smith

Madison has a background in choral music at the Washington National Cathedral and has taken the atmosphere of the prestigious building into her new, layered track. Wait My Dear combines classicality, modern pop, and folksy ambience to create something truly special.

Her lead vocal is, of course, the highlight. It’s soulful, sultry, and understated. She delivers emotive and image-laden lyrics while the mood is established and maintained by the track’s ever-growing layers of voice and acoustic instrumentals, right up to a lingering piano-led close.

Born and raised in Washington DC, USA, Blake Madison is 23 years old and has the world at her feet. She’s a true talent and has a uniqueness to her sound that makes her music stand out. I look forward to hearing what she applies her classical training to next. If Wait My Dear is anything to go by, then it’s going to be magical.

To keep up to date with all she’s doing, you can follow her on Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
