An increasingly heard story is that of how a strict religious upbringing has affected queer people in their adulthood. The latest to tackle it from his own experience is Ryne Meadow.
By Graeme Smith
Through his album Baptisms, Meadow weaves religious imagery together with personal, intimate storytelling across twelve heartfelt tracks. Right from the off we get romantic, acoustic ballads that hint at impending tragedy. I was absorbed throughout my listen by Meadow’s authenticity and ability to weave a narrative.
Thankfully, the album does have a happy ending with Hopes On High finishing things brightly.
Baptisms is out now, and you can listen to it below.
