On Thursday, amateur drag acts from York competed at The Basement – Live Music & Comedy Venue for the crown of best drag act in York. The event, a fundraiser for York Pride, was based on the TV Show RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race and gave local queens a chance to show off their skills in lip synching, dancing and wowing a crowd. The competition was fierce, with some of the acts giving the professionals a run for their money. Winner Richard, aka Gayle Force, was crowned at the end of the night following expert judges’ scores and an audience vote. We went along and took a few snaps.
