The three events you shouldn’t miss this week.
Ravioli Me Away
The Basement
Thursday 10 March, 8pm
With a name like Ravioli Me Away, you know this all girl band is something unique. They span a range of genres and are difficult to define, but have been dubbed ‘post-pop punk hip fuck with a stylistically schizophrenic theme.’ To understand that description, you definitely need to catch these girls perform.
Chris Tavener
The Spread Eagle
Friday 11 March, 8 pm
With acclaim from BBC 6 Music and his first national tour starting, Chris Tavener is definitely one to watch out for. His style is a compilation of rock, blues and folk with witty lyrics and he’ll be performing a special acoustic session at The Spread Eagle.
CC Smugglers
The Duchess
Saturday 12 March, 7.30pm
It’s some doing to get BBC Radio 6’s Cerys Matthews to describe you as “the best live band on the scene”, but that’s precisely the praise that trumpets to arrival of CC Smugglers to the Duchess stage. It’s very much going to be a night of ‘I saw them before they were big’ so don’t miss out.
