The three events you shouldn’t miss this week.
Jazz Worlds / World Jazz Book Launch
The Inkwell
Thursday 16 June, 3.00 pm
The Inkwell is a music lover’s haven, overflowing with records, books and magazines. So, it’s no surprise then that it’s where Jazz In York will be hosting the book launch for Jazz Worlds / World Jazz, a book exploring the journey of jazz music. The event is free and there’ll be live music by Cornelius Corkery Trio.
Chantel McGregor
Fibbers
Friday 17 June, 7.30 pm
Bradford born Chantel McGregor promises a showstopper this Friday, considering she’s been compared to the likes of Hendrix with her skill. So, it’s no wonder her blues/rock style has attracted her a huge fan-base and it’s continuing to grow. Expect an intense night of Southern Gothic influences and addictive blues.
Lollypop!
The Duchess
Saturday 18 June, 10pm
If you’re in York, you can’t have failed to catch the news that The Duchess is closing, and we’re losing one of the city’s finest live music venues. Lollypop club night has been a fixture at The Duchess for a long time and this Saturday is their final instalment. What better excuse for a party is there?
