We run down some of the tracks we’ve been listening to recently.
Patawawa – Patagonia
A funky party track if there ever was one, Patawawa’s Patagonia has the right blend of beats, harmonies and keys to get you nodding your head like a pigeon. Self-described as British bedroom disco/pop, these guys have hit the radar of NME and Line Of Best Fit so will likely be big before long.
DATAROCK – Ruffle Shuffle
DATAROCK are superb purveyors of indie weird akin to the one and only Beck. The Norwegian band introduce the latest dance craze – The Ruffle Shuffle – in their new fun and easy track. This will make you smile, guaranteed.
Canshaker Pi – Pressure From Above
Dutch indie band Canshaker Pi have just completed support dates with The Cribs and the two bands are a good match. The video for new track Pressure From Above has a charming DIY feel to it and the guitar-laden rhythm of the track will definitely get your head bobbing and your hips moving.
The Golden Pony – Time Was On Our Side feat. Shota Lodi
Nestled somewhere between pop, chill and indie, The Golden Pony have unleashed a true earworm of a track in Time Was On Our Side. Cool verses intermingle with big, electronic choruses that deliver the perfect feel good number.
Olly Flavell – Paint The Sky
Manchester singer-songwriter swings with latest track Paint The Sky, a mellow waltz of love and longing. At 20 years old Olly has a bright future ahead of him and we look forward to hearing more from this northern boy.
Dee Wallz – Playstation
The start-up refrain from the original PlayStation has never been so musical! Variation on the theme provides the beat on which rapper Dee Wallz spits his lyrics, cleverly comparing his flow to the afore-mentioned PS1. PlayStation is truly unique.
Barzo – Goin’ Home
Costa Rica’s Barzo has released their latest funky number Goin’ Home, a track destined to get you moving. Staccato percussion and lively horn play beneath a simple refrain in this dance party number.
