Glam rock is not dead. It’s alive and well within American rock group The Gold Web.

For something so retro, The Emperor by The Gold Web somehow sounds fresh. Building on the trail blazed by experimental acts such as The Animal Collective, The Gold Web have brought the novel to the mainstream via the ’70s.

For all its call-backs, the subject matter cannot be more ‘now’. There are so not so subtle references to America’s current “emperor” in both the lyrics and the video. Take a watch below to see what we mean.
