It’s scarcely believable, but 2018 is over halfway done already. We thought we’d take this moment to look back at some of the artists we’ve covered that have returned to the UK scene after a considerable break, including Gaz Coombes, The Coral, Eliza and the Bear and Snow Patrol.

Gaz Coombes will forever be known as the charismatic frontman of Brit pop frontrunners Supergrass. Yet, he’s made a case for his own genius with solo outing World’s Strongest Man. We’ve had the pleasure to review both Deep Pockets and Walk The Walk from his comeback album, but Deep Pockets was really him setting out his stall so have included it in the playlist below.
The Coral aren’t so much of a 2018 comeback, having reformed in 2016 after a five year break. Yet, 2018 release Eyes Like Pearls is a real gem so worth including. We also ran the rule on the song’s charming video.
Eliza and The Bear are best known for their 2016 hit Friends. So, yeah, a two year break isn’t really a comeback but new single First Aid is such a marked change of direction for the band that I thought it worth including, particularly for anyone who had previously written off the band.
You can say what you like about Snow Patrol (the words “mom rock” come to mind) but we really enjoyed their new album Wildness with Martin remarking on just how well it fit with their classic sound. I’ve included Wild Horses here as a nice way to round off things.
