His newest track Naoshima Island was inspired by the Southern Japanese island of the same name and there’s certainly an island feel to it, though perhaps more the Med. than the far east. Spunky drums provide the foundation for layers of keys, horns and vocal samples. Naoshima Island is, in a word, feel-good.
Originally from Leeds, Doherty has been putting music out since 2014 with plaudits from BBC Introducing and Radio 6. We wish this local lad all the best. Check out Naoshima Island below.
