SHIMA is a Japanese-American indie R&B artist who has recently quit her job as a software engineer to devote herself fully to music. Her new track Machine is a commentary on her life in the corporate world.

I don’t know about you, but I definitely feel the sentiment in Machine. I’m sure SHIMA is not the only one who has ever yearned for more than being a cog in someone else’s wheel. That longing feeling is ever present in the track, yet there is also a sense of the feelgood – hope and resolve – and that’s what’s makes it so compelling.
A rapped verse from Miyachi adds another element to this solid example of R&B. I can’t wait to see how SHIMA’s journey in music progresses. Check out Machine below.
