Briston Maroney is an indie Americana artist from Nashville who first hit my radar through his lively rock track Chattanooga. His new one Deep Sea Diver has an altogether more laidback feel.

It’s a track that creates a story through a series of modern folksy vignettes like being too polite to refuse ketamine and smoking too much. The result is a narrative that feels like having a mental breakdown in slow motion. It’s powerfully done, and I felt as if I was right there beside him as he stumbled through these trials.
