Black Grapefruit are an American indie R&B act who has caught my attention with their hypnotic new track Inside.

Inside is what happens when you combine carnival-esque instrumentals with gospel vocals. The result is intoxicating and I wasn’t quite sure whether to waltz around the room or nod my head along as I listened to it. The lyrics are poetic and yet down to earth with themes of family and nature running richly through it.

Black Grapefruit are a duo consisting of Randa Smith and Brian Dekker. I find their sound really exciting, both familiar and new which is quite a feat to pull off. Have a listen to Inside for yourself below.
