Iliya Zaki is a cinematic composer from Singapore. He has teamed up with compatriot Sasha M to bring a touch of the epic to her track Glass Shard.
By Graeme Smith
This version of Glass Shard is something of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Starting ambient, intimate and emotional, it feels like a ballad. As it progresses, things slowly swell, first with electronic elements and then metal. It’s very difficult to put a label on it but it doesn’t really matter. It’s a powerful and emotive piece that will leave you reeling.
Though a discovery for us, Iliya’s music is already well distributed across popular culture, having been used by the likes of BBC’s Top Gear and WWE. It’s easy to see why with the epicness of his music.
