AKA AKA are an electro pop duo from Berlin whose thumping new track No Place To Cry is the ultimate sad banger.
By Graeme Smith
Inspired by disco, ’80s pop and the struggles of the trans community, No Place To Cry combines bouncing beats with emotional vocals. The result is irresistible, empathetic and memorable. I could listen to the the catchy chorus all day. It’s up there with some of the greats of my youth like Justice and Simian Mobile Disco.
Lyrically, the track explores the story of a couple where one has come out as trans. It’s a topic that AKA AKA wanted to shed some light on as, though media coverage is becoming more sympathetic to trans people, they feel there’s still a long way to go. No Place To Cry is their contribution. You can check it out below.
