The Palava are an indie rock outfit from right here in York who have just hit my radar through their new track Dead Heat.

Dead Heat isn’t your typical indie rock track. Things kick off with a funky bass line which forms the main hook over which twinkling guitar and troubadour-esque vocals are hung. Things change gears suddenly halfway through. The riffs get big and the tempo ramps up.
Fans of The Last Shadow Puppets and Arctic Monkeys will appreciate The Palava’s sound. Who knows, they might put York on the musical map in the same way Alex Turner’s bands did for Sheffield. Either way, they’ll definitely get a lot of love here in York. Check out Dead Heat below.
