Human History is a indie pop artist from Newcastle-upon-Tyne whose new track Moonchild caught my ear through its ’90s dance music influences.
By Graeme Smith
Moonchild is built on a looping piano riff that would have fit right in on a dancefloor in 1997. Accompanying it is drums, strings and ethereal vocals which add a touch of indie to proceedings. Robert Murray, the solo artist behind Human History, expertly brings elements in and lets them go again as the track progresses nicely to its climax.
Robert was inspired by astrology when writing Moonchild, and the term refers to those with the star sign cancer. It also explores a theme of dysfunctional romance. You can catch the video, shot solo during lockdown, below.
