Alanna Lyes is best known to me as the front woman of local funk band Grinny Grandad. Yet, she also has a blossoming solo career, having provided guest vocals on a lot of electro swing tracks. Disappear is taken from her debut solo album, due out in the autumn.

For those of us used to hearing Alanna’s vocals on dance numbers, Disappear is a change of pace. It’s mellow and sultry. Her smooth vocals are accompanied by piano, synth, electric guitar and drums forming a Bond theme-esque arrangement without the bombast. The lyrical story speaks of intimacy and heartache.
I’ve always been a fan of Alanna’s voice and style so it’s great to see her branching out with complete creative control of her music. I’m looking forward to hearing more of it. Check out Disappear below.
