Ants is the story of an old friendship that was broken by depression. There’s a strong sense of nostalgia flowing through its lyrics and a tinge of sadness that’s hidden by the track’s bold and bright instrumentals. I was mesmerised by David’s attention to detail and use of imagery in his lyrics. Ants isn’t your typical pop song but it would sit nicely on any top 40 playlist.
Inspired by the likes of Dermot Kennedy and Sam Fender, David has been riding high this year after receiving features on major German radio stations and MTV Germany, and being labelled a 2021 newcomer to have on your radar. He could well be set to take the world by storm.
