Tonight is the intimate new single from Stockton-on-Tees-based singer songwriter Sarah Johnsone.
By Graeme Smith
The track was written on Sarah’s kitchen floor at 4am during last year’s coronavirus lockdown and it has a sense of immediacy about it. The lyrics are confessional in nature, like owning up to a crush but the subtext is about being apart from someone you love, expertly observed and infinitely relevant.
Sarah has an eclectic range of influences that she inherited from her father, including The Beatles, Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse. In Tonight she’s filtered those influences through her own experiences to create something that feels truly authentic.
