Dot Allison is a UK-based singer songwriter whose haunting and stripped-back new track One Love caught my ear.

One Love starts with a simple, plucked melody and ethereal harmonies. When Dot’s vocals float in gently, you know you’re in for something special. The lyrics are rich with imagery and poetry. Bass and strings join the arrangement and you are taken to a higher plane.

Though new to us, Dot released her debut solo album Afterglow in 1999. Since then she’s released a steady trickle of her own music, while also guesting with the likes of Massive Attack and Babyshambles. She really is a unique voice who I’m overjoyed to have discovered.
