Mayuko are an art pop trio based across the cities of Mannheim and Berlin in Germany. Their new track Imaginary Bubbles is a fun and fresh jazz-influenced track that really caught my attention.
By Graeme Smith
With a cantering bass-line and sparse percussion, Imaginary Bubbles is a stripped back wonderland. The minimal instrumentals still manage a great groove and leaves plenty of room for the vocals, which alternates between spoken word verses and sung choruses. That description doesn’t do the amount of innovation going on in the track any justice. It’s one that you’ll just have to hear for yourself.
Mayuko are Michelle Cheung, Kasia Kadlubowska and Rebecca Mauch. Classically trained, the trio bring something unconventional to their pop sound.
