New Music: Chloe Rodgers – Bones

Chloe Rodgers is a Nottingham-based singer songwriter who I first discovered last autumn and have been keeping a close eye on ever since. Her music so far has ebbed and flowed between ethereal folk and earthy jazz, remaining forever poetic. Her newest track Bones see Chloe branch out into electro and indie pop.

By Graeme Smith

Bones is driven by metronomic percussion and an electronic bass beat that’s unexpected from Chloe’s music. The energy suits the track’s biting, political lyrics, told through metaphor and imagery. One of Chloe’s biggest influences is Thom Yorke and you can certainly get that from Bones. Radiohead fans will enjoy it.

The track is taken from Chloe’s new EP Back To The Quay which is set for release on 26 November. She’s also just announced her debut headline show at The Bodega in Nottingham on 5 November.
