Transistor are an indie rock four-piece who I first discovered back in August when I had the pleasure of sharing their album Maybe In The Summer. Now they’re back with another seasonal track. Inspired by the holiday season, it’s called The Flurries.
By Graeme Smith
Though inspired by Christmas, The Flurries isn’t your typical Christmas song. In fact, with echoing guitar riffs and an anthemic feel, it’s not immediately apparent that it’s a Christmas song at all to begin with. Once the sleigh bells kick in, and the story of the lyrics unfold, then you’re left in no doubt. This is a version of Christmas where Santa fronts an indie rock band.
Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, USA, Transistor are Patrick Davis on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Drew Sikes on lead guitar and vocals, JT Ward on drums, and Mason Richardson on bass and vocals.
