Emma Mae is a Leicester-based indie pop singer songwriter who I first featured on the blog over the summer through her “b*tch pop” track When Paris Calls. Her latest is a heart-breaking ballad called Hollywood.

Though it’s quite a different sound for Emma from her previous singles, all the elements I love about her music are still there. Her vocals are beautiful, and particularly raw and vulnerable in Hollywood. The storytelling lyrics are there too, relatable and with a fresh take on a familiar tale – one of knowing a relationship is at its end but holding on because of blind idealism.
Emma’s previous music has been prominent in the iTunes chart and she’s been catching the attention of radio stations in her native Midlands. She’s certainly one to watch. You can listen to Hollywood below.
