New Music: The Confederation – Coat In The Hallway

The Confederation are a Coventry-based soul and jazz collective who first hit my radar earlier this month through their storytelling track That’s Where You’ll Find Me. Now they’re back with another funky tale to tell. It’s called Coat In The Hallway.

By Graeme Smith

Opening with atmospheric keys and synths, they are quickly joined by drums and horns creating a rich and jazzy texture over which smooth vocals are poured. The track’s story is one of seduction, one of forgetting the woes of the world and simply enjoying yourself for one night. Just when you think you’ve got the measure of it though, things are nicely rounded off with an energetic electric guitar solo.

It’s another great track for those who like their music in the form of Prince and Morcheeba, both big influences for The Confederation. You can check out Coat In The Hallway below.
