Discovery: James Sebastian

Hailing from Exeter, James Sebastian is a classic rock musician whose song writing, frustrated by COVID lockdown, caught my attention. His latest is called Shipwrecked Souls.

By Graeme Smith

Shipwrecked Souls is a song that hits you straight away. With its ’70s inspired melodic guitar and James’s gritty, quality vocals, it has a sense of timelessness about it. What keeps you listening, though, is its lyrics. Through metaphor, it paints a picture of desperation and desolation.

James is a young man, early in his career, but as musical inspiration for his sound goes, you wouldn’t know it. Among his heroes you can find Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and Elton John. You know what they say, you’re best learning from the masters. It certainly pays off in Shipwrecked Souls. You can give it a listen below.
