Pio Hartnett is a folk pop singer songwriter based in Galway, Ireland. For him, music is a chance to experiment and a way of shining a light on the little things. It’s an ethos that works for him in his latest track Roses.

Roses opens with a sense of minimalism. Acoustic guitar with overlays of strings accompany Pio’s vulnerable vocals. When the first chorus hits, though, the track explodes to life feeling simultaneously traditional and fresh. What stuck with me most was the attention to detail in his lyrics, telling a story of dreams mixed with ordinary life.
Roses is taken from Pio’s upcoming debut EP, and it feels like a good time to get introduced to his music. I’m expecting big things on the horizon for him. You can take a listen to the track below.
