Discovery: Harsh Language

Harsh Language are a hard rock duo based in London whose politically-charged new single Melancholia caught my attention.

What stood out most about Melancholia for me was it’s alternative take on hard rock. The big riffs and driving drums are there as you’d expect but its electronic overtones felt like a breath of fresh air. Add to that its hard-hitting lyrics, exploring the feelings of apathy that come from being aware of the world’s woes, and you’ve got a track that really makes you sit up and listen.

Harsh Language is the brainchild of Sean Shreeve. It started as a solo project before Sean teamed up with bassist Rob Green late last year. The pair have a new EP on the way from which Melancholia is taken. You can check out the single below.
