Discovery: Opal Skies

Opal Skies are a hard rock four-piece who are getting a bit of a reputation for manic and lively shows in their native London. It’s an energy they bring to their recorded sessions too, as evidenced by their latest single Parasite.

Parasite explores the mental impact of negative thoughts left unchecked. It does so through big, scuzzy guitar riffs and passionate vocals. A hard-hitting instrumental intro gives way to a melodic verse, introducing elements of ’90s indie rock and psych.

Opal Skies are singer and bassist Will Sharp, guitarist and producer Tom Zero, guitarist and keyboardist Oliver Cherrington and drummer Piers Berryman. The four have been rocking together since 2019 and are planning a UK tour. I definitely recommend checking them out if they stop nearby.

You can listen to Parasite below.
