Discovery: Scream Mountain

Scream Mountain are an alternative rock four-piece who hail from Perth, Australia. They’ve just hit my radar through their exploration of that special depression that comes with searching for the perfect love. It’s called Manic Pixie Dream Girl.

The track starts in a gentle but groovy way, with hints of ’80s new romanticism and ’90s indie rock. Guitar melodies mix with electronic overtones in a heady mix of bittersweet love and hate. The vocals are soft and pleading, and perfectly conveys that sense of desperation that comes from being love-lorn.

Scream Mountain are Paul Scaramella, Jordan Pawlik, Joshua Watson and Jack Nelson, who play together thanks to their shared love of dreamy indie rock. Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a beautiful introduction to their sound. You can check it out below.
