Discovery: Opeongo

Opeongo, real name Keegan Trumpour, is a Canadian Americana artist who has caught my attention through his new haunting ballad. It’s called Kamouraska.

By Graeme Smith

The track is named for a town in Quebec and its story is set in the 1800s. Keegan brings both the place and time to life through his traditional instrumentals and his lyrics. I found myself thoroughly absorbed by the story as a I listened, and Keegan brought the emotion of it home through his passionate and expressive vocals.

The track is taken from Opeongo’s sophomore album, We’ll All Go With (The-will-o’-the-wisp), which is out now. You can listen to Kamouraska below.
