Tishmal is the debut solo project of American electro pop singer songwriter Rachel Brockbank. The name is taken from the Luiseño language, the language of her Native American forebearers, and means ‘hummingbird’, a nickname she was given as a child. Her latest track is a nostalgic exploration of her teenage years. It’s called You Got So High.

What struck me straight away about Rachel’s music, was her unique approach. The track opens with stripped-back percussion and ambient sounds. Rachel’s lyrics feel relatable, authentic and based on real experience. The low-key verse gives way to a euphoric, textured chorus where Rachel’s vocals soar.
Tishmal is an artist who is already garnering a lot of attention, having opened for the likes of Zara Larsson and CHVRCHES. She’s definitely one to keep an eye on. You can check out You Got So High below.
