New Music: LoveSelf – Diggin My Grave

LoveSelf is Canada-based alternative rock artist Joshua O’Riley. I first featured him on the blog back in April through his indie pop track Anymore. Now he’s back with a new one, taking things in a grunge direction. It’s called Diggin My Grave.

Diggin My Grave doesn’t pull its punches. From the off it hits you with noise rock that feels like Nirvana turned up to 11. The macabre mixes with the rebellious in the lyrics, speaking of the pain and experimentation of being a teenager. For two and a half minutes, it doesn’t let up.

Though now based in Canada, Joshua was born in Ireland and grew up in Basildon in Essex. He’s been obsessed with rock since the age of twelve, inspired by the likes of Nirvana, The Cure and Joy Division. The more I hear of his music, the more I like it.
