Discovery: Alfie and the Avalon

Alfie and the Avalon are a folk rock four-piece from just down the road in Huddersfield. They’ve caught my attention through their anthemic new track. It’s called Not Where I Belong.

The band are influenced by the likes of Kings of Leon, Sam Fender and early Coldplay, and those influences come through strongly in Not Where I Belong. Jangly guitar meet soaring vocals in a singalong chorus that would fit nicely on any playlist alongside those bands.

Formed at the University of Huddersfield, Alfie and the Avalon are four Music and Music Production students who began to collaborate remotely during coronavirus lockdown. Once allowed back out, they’ve been writing, recording and taking their sound to local stages.

Not Where I Belong is a solid offering from the band, and one for fans of indie rock. You can check it out below.
