London-based singer songwriter Imogen Halsey first caught my attention earlier this year through her stunning EP Surrender. Now she’s back on the blog with a new single. A story of love and the summertime, it’s called You And I.

You And I is a gentle and intimate track. It’s just Imogen and her guitar and the setup works well in letting the story of the lyrics come through strongly. You can close your eyes and listen, perhaps falling in love for a few moments. The track draws equally from pop as it does from folk so there’s something universal about it.

Imogen is influenced by classic songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile and fans of either will find a lot to love about You And I. You can check it out below.
