Interview: Bohardt

If you’re into electronic pop music with an 80s theme, then look no further than Bohardt’s This Is What You Wanted, which is bringing that decade back to the forefront of underground music again! Make sure you give the song a listen after you’ve read through this interview!

You recently released a song titled This Is What You Wanted, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about this song and where can it be purchased?

This song’s meaning has changed a few times for me. When I first wrote it, it was about leaving someone who was toxic and that you’d be ok without them, but now its more about letting someone leave if they aren’t happy or good for you. Of course it’s hard to let someone you love go, but it does get better. It’s available anywhere that you listen to music ( I think haha) – Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, Soundcloud, Amazon, Deezer, etc)

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

Not being able to perform as much is very difficult. But on the bright side, it’s allowed me to slow down and really search for my sound.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

A lot of times, the writing process for me is sitting in my car looking like a crazy person singing into me voice memos. But the writing sessions I love the most are when I go to the studio with nothing and just let ideas form into what they are going to be.

Have you started writing for a future EP/album?

I’ve got a handful of songs that I can’t wait to show all of you. They are very different from what I’ve made previously, but I think that’s what is so fun about being an artist. Constantly evolving.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

I’ll be releasing a single in August, which I think is the darkest song I’ve ever written, but it’s also truthful.

Whereabouts are you based and what is the local music scene like?

I’m originally from San Diego, but I bounce around between Orange County and Los Angeles now. I also record in Colorado sometimes!

What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

I’ve really just let playlists guide me a lot recently. Of course I’m still inspired by artists like Sam Smith or Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, etc. But I love putting on a mood playlist and discovering new artists. They just bring such a different energy and vibe to the table.

Do you have any tour dates lined up?

I’m working on playing some shows in the very near future so I’ll keep you updated.

Why do you think people should come and see you live, and what can fans expect from one of your shows?

I want people to come to my shows to see the real me. I don’t have all the glitz or choreography of a major POP star, I just have me and the music and I want to share my authentic self with the world.

Any last words for the fans?

I hope whatever you get out of my music is positive. A song to cry to, dance to, drive to – it doesn’t matter. I just want to add to peoples lives.
