Pennine Suite are a York-based five-piece fronted by Nicholas Aldous, formerly of The Receivers. They’ve just released a new track, channelling influences from The Jesus And Mary Chain and The War On Drugs. It’s called Far.
By Graeme Smith
The track opens brightly, combining a lively drum beat with synths. After a sweeping instrumental intro, male and female vocals harmonise in a warm and love-filled verse. Lyrically, Nicholas was inspired by a desire to escape COVID lockdown, and to write a summer anthem. Far delivers, full of sunshine and wistful energy.
It’s another wonderful offering from a band that could be the next big thing coming out of York. You can catch Pennine Suite live for the official launch party at The York Vaults on 22 July. You can give Far a listen below.
