New Music: Express Office Portico – Forget The Name

Express Office Portico are a Nottingham-based indie pop band who I first discovered for the blog in June through their disco funk track Cosmic Joke. Now they’re back with a fresh one that confronts the duality in all of us. It’s called Forget The Name.

Forget The Name opens with an expansive and airy electronic arrangement and a guitar lick that fans of Foals will enjoy. Gentle vocals float in, telling a story of the internal struggle between fear of change and embracing it. It’s nice to hear such deep philosophy delivered in such a bright and breezy way. Forget The Name will make you think, and make you dance.

Formed during the pandemic, Express Office Portico have been making up for lost time with live shows in their hometown, festivals and shows further afield. I love what they’re putting out and I hope you will too. You can check out Forget The Name below.
