London-based alternative rock outfit Arliston first hit our radar around this time last year thanks to their emotive track Centre. Since then, we’ve featured them a couple of times. Their latest is a bold piece of nostalgic rock and it’s called Hold My Wine.

Hold My Wine opens delicately, with elements of ’80s electronica mixing with rock undertones. As it progresses, the arrangement swells while the vocals remain calming. The lyrics speak of the dread of feeling stuck in a rut but there’s a playfulness about it too. Jack from the band explains the title as a middle-class equivalent of the common phrase “hold my beer.”
It’s a joy to have Arliston back on the blog. They really are making music that’s a cut above the standard. If you haven’t checked out their previous tracks then now’s your chance to discover them for yourself. You can listen to Hold My Wine below.
