The Assist are a Walsall-based indie pop act who first featured on our blog at the start of this year through their energetic track Television Kid. Now they’re back with Better Days, a protest against the endless cycle of work and play.

We’re all so used to it, it barely registers now, but most of us spend five days working and, in exchange, get two days back, which are so often spent on a short-term blow out. The Assist challenge the sustainability of this in Better Days and their thesis plays out through a fresh and unique instrumental arrangement and expressive vocals.
It’s the closing track from their debut album Council Pop, a collection of tracks that challenge convention musically as well as socially. The Assist are definitely ones to watch. They’re out here bringing something completely new to the UK scene.
