Attendant is a British rock act fronted by London-based singer songwriter Andy Walker. Their music recently featured in Jane’s Grunge Forever roundup, and she even posed them a few questions in an interview too. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over their music thanks to their new release Failing Grace.

Failing Grace is the third part of a trilogy of singles that mark a transition into bolder song writing for Attendant. All three tracks, including Blockade and A.I.T.A., showcase a different side of their sound, with Failing Grace exhibiting their emotional depth.
It opens with a lonely guitar riff. It’s quickly joined by bass and a dirty grunge edge. The vocals are melancholic, but there is a hint of hope about them too. The titular character of Grace is a victim of gaslighting and the sensation is wonderfully captured. You get the sense that she’s better than a world that’s trying to keep her down.
The track is a great introduction to the world of Attendant for me. I’ll be keeping a keen eye for more from them. Failing Grace is out now and you can check it out below.
