New Zealand-based artist, producer and songwriter Tarn PK first hit my radar in March this year thanks to his atmospheric track Street Noise. His latest shows a different side of his music though, venturing into alt and hyper pop. It’s called Petty.

Petty is such a rich song. A distorted electronic melody sets the tone before emo rap style vocals join the party. A soaring interlude sets up the drop in the chorus nicely, and it’s there where the beat hits the hardest. It’s such a joyous track, dripping with energy and emotion.

With this track, Tarn PK proves again that he’s able to pick out the threads of modern pop and stitch them together into something new and exciting. You can give Petty a listen below.
