Natalie Lucie is a Gloucestershire-based singer, songwriter and producer who has just caught my attention through her latest single. A rebuttal to society’s superficiality, it’s called Let Myself Be.
By Graeme Smith
A few things inspired Natalie to pen this song – being a mother to daughters, feeling dismissed for being a woman in her 30s, and seeing other artists responding more to compliments about their appearance than feedback on their music. Driven by a desire for something deeper, she created this dreamy but important piece of acoustic folk pop. I, for one, am glad she did.
Natalie is providing a fresh perspective in her music without losing the qualities that make modern alt pop accessible. Fans of Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Regina Spektor and Kate Bush will appreciate it. You can give Let Myself Be a listen below.
